Silent No More
Whether in Korea or in overseas ethnic Korean communities, a woman who is sexually abused or attacked is usually shamed into silence. Mrs. O became the first woman in the Korean American community to break that silence. On October 28, 1998, her attacker, Joon Ho Chin, was found guilty of rape by the Queens County Court in New York. His sentencing has been scheduled for November 30, 1998.
Upon hearing of the verdict, Mrs. O (pseudonym) said: "As I celebrate today, I am also reminded that there are many other women in our community who survive rape but have no one to turn to for support. This victory is just one small step in a long struggle ahead to break the silence against rape."
Chin, a prominent member of the Korean American community and a former president of the Philadelphia Korean Association, sponsored Mrs. O's immigration several years ago. Once she arrived, he put her to work in his restaurant. And he raped her on October 15, 1997. When she reported the crime to the Queens District Attorney's Office, she was treated with contempt. The office denied her request for a translator--Mrs. O does not speak much English--and closed the case without an investigation. American prosecutors still fail to take rape seriously, especially when the accusation is made by an Asian woman with broken English.
When Korean American women heard of Mrs. O's case, they were outraged. They organized the Justice for Mrs. O Coalition and began publicizing her plight. Under pressure from the coalition, the District Attorney finally indicted Chin for rape and the case went to trail on October 1, 1998.
Sadly, mainstream Korean American communities did not support Mrs. O. Fellow church members ostracized her and her family, driving them out of the church. Korean newspapers covered the case almost entirely from the perspective of Chin, reporting as fact numerous lies that had been deliberately spread to slander Mrs. O's character and credibility. They even publicized her real name, in violation of journalism ethics designed to protect innocent victims from potential harassment.
Mrs. O's only support came from Korean American and Asian American women, especially those of the 1.5 and second generation. But with their help, Mrs. O did achieve justice. Her courage and her victory now make it possible for other Korean women to break the silence and continue the fight for women's right to freedom from sexual violence.

soap opera: 주중 오후에 방영되는 연속극
<유래>
평일 오후에 방영되는 드라마인 만큼 주부들이 대상이었다. 그래서 그 줄거리를 보면 오페라처럼 비극적이었다. 또한 드라마 사이의 광고는 주부들을 대상으로 한 만큼 비누 광고가 주를 이루었다. 이런 이유에서 평일 오후에 방영되는 일일연속극을 가리켜 soap opera라 일컫게 되었다.
1980년대부터는 황금 시간대에도 인기를 끄는 soap opera 형식의 드라마가 일주일에 1회 방영되었는데 이를 가리켜 prime time soap opera 또는 evening soap opera라 하고 평일 오후에 방영되는 드라마를 가리켜 daytime soap opera 또는 daytime drama라 한다.

우리가 흔히 호텔 등에서 원하는 시간에 전화로 깨워주는 것을 morning
call이라고 하는데 이것이 콩글리쉬이며 wake-up call이 올바른 영어라는
것은 알고 있으나 정작 morning call의 의미는 무엇인지 잘 모르겠습니다.
영어사전에는 '오후에 하는 사교 방문' 정도의 해설만이 나와 있습니다.
답답한 마음에 인터넷의 영어사전 site는 모두 헤메고 다녀봤지만 결국 못찾고 이곳까지 오게 되었습니다. 혹시 알고 계신다면 가급적 빠른 시간 내에 답변 부탁드립니다.

morning call, wake-up call 둘 다 '아침에 깨워주는 전화'로 같은 뜻입니다.
차이점이라면 morning call은 영국식 표현이고 wake-up call은 미국식 표현입니다.
<참고>
영국 귀족과 상류층에서는 아침 늦은 시간에 문안차 방문을 했는데 이를 가리켜서 'morning call'이라 했습니다.

저도 대한 민국의 여느 사람들처럼 남들 하는 대로 고등학교 졸업 후 대학교 진학하고, 나이가 많아 장교로 지원해서 3년간 근무하고, 제대 후에는 기아자동차에 다니고...
인생은 도전과 응전의 연속이라고 하는데 저는 도전 할 기회가 전혀 없었더군요.
저는 지금이 그 시기라고 생각합니다. 저는 처와 아들이 하나 있고 또 한명의 딸(?)은 내년에 태어난답니다. 이러한 상황이라면 당장이라도 아무 직장이나 얻어서 생활비를 벌어야 하겠지만, 좀더 깊이 생각한 결과 지금이라도 영어공부를 해서 좀더 넓은 취업의 기회를 찾기로 했습니다.
단지 영어공부를 위해서 몇천만원을 외국에 투자한다고 생각하니 지금까지 영어공부를 소홀히 한 내자신이 원망스럽고 국가에 죄송스럽기도 합니다. 그래서 영어공부를 하는 것이 최우선 목적이지만 캐나다에 가지 않고는 알 수 없는 것들을 많이 알아서 오려고 합니다.
영어에 관해서는, 11월 출국을 앞두고 지금 제가 하는 것은 영어 소설 핸드북을 읽고 있습니다. 이런 것 말고 달리 조언 해 주실 것이 있으시면 부탁 드립니다.
어학연수기간은 6개월 정도 생각하고 있습니다. 물론 이정도 기간에 영어를 어느 정도나 할지 큰 기대는 하지 않지만 귀국 후에도 더욱 열심히 노력 할 수 있는 자세는 갖추게 될 것 같습니다.

또 대한민국 포병에서는 1,2,3,4...를 하나, 둘, 삼, 넷, 오, 여섯, 칠, 팔, 아홉, 공 등으로 읽어서 통신상의 와전을 방지합니다. 영어에서도 이런 경우에 대한 설명 좀 부탁 드립니다.

아이가 둘 있고(3살짜리 딸과 9개월 된 아들) 대학에서 학생들을 가르칩니다. 무엇보다 발등에 떨어진 일은, 지금부터 1년 반 이내로 박사논문을 써내야 해야 하는 학생이라는 점입니다.
여러 가지 일을 동시 다발적으로 해야 하기 때문에 영어 공부할 시간이 너무나 부족합니다. 아침에 일찍 일어나 영어 관련 방송을 듣고 있지만, 그날그날 표현을 외우지 못해 도로아미타불이 될 때가 많습니다.
저희 부부는 박사학위를 따고 나면(남편도 저와 유사한 처지입니다) 전공과 관련된 분야로 post-doc.을 가고자 하는 꿈을 가지고 있습니다. 물론 미국으로요(캐나다쪽도 고려하고 있습니다). 그런데, 현재 저의 영어 실력으로는 터무니 없는 일인 것 같습니다.
어떨 땐 '나는 post-doc.을 포기하고, 남편 따라 미국 가서는 영어 말하기 공부만 열심히 배우다 올까?' 하는 나약한 생각도 듭니다. 그러나 딸에게 보다 더 멋진 엄마가 되고 싶습니다.
늘 알고 있지만, 그리고 YESusa도 말씀하신 것처럼 실천이 중요한 것 같습니다. 사실, 3일전부터 하루에 3가지 표현 정도를 post-it에 각각 써서 집의 냉장고나 벽면에 붙여놓고 완전히 입에 익을 때 까지 반복하고 있습니다.
영자신문도 늘 읽어야지-하면서 지속적으로 실천을 못합니다. 그러나 늘 듣던 말, 늘 알던 방법도 누군가가 힘을 실어주면 더 설득력 있게 들리는 것 같습니다.

첫째, 어떠한 시간 사용이 가장 효과적일까요?
현재에는 영어 공부에 할애할 시간이 하루에 평균 1시간 정도밖에 없습니다. 주말은 좀더 여유가 있습니다. 하루에 영어 표현 몇가지를 외우고, 영자신문을 접하는 것이 가장 효과적이겠습니까? 그리고 주말에 몇시간 정도 AFKN을 시청(혹은 영화 감상)하는 것은 어떻습니까?
둘째, 하루에 표현 3가지를 외울 때, 생활영어를 하루에 3가지씩 정도라도
외우는 것이 더 바람직할까요?(사실 재미있긴 하지만 체계적이지 않으니
실력이 쌓이는 것 같지 않습니다), 아니면 아주 기초적인 중고등학교 영어 교과서(YESusa에서 초보자들에게 권하신)를 집중적으로 외워보는 것이 좋겠습니까?
세째, 이건 조금 다른 차원의 문제입니다만, 저의 3살난 딸에게 영어를 가르치고 싶습니다. 왜냐면 지금 한창 말하는 것에 관심이 많거든요. 한국말은 제 또래의 아이에 비해 표현력이 뛰어납니다. 저희 부부의 발음은 별로 좋지 못한 것 같습니다. 그래도 저희 부부가 한 두 마디라도 해주는 것이 좋겠지요? 아주 어린 아이들을 대상으로 영어 공부를 가르친다는 전문 프로그램을

For reading comprehension, read various kinds of English materials. Choose books and articles in subjects you are interested in. Read without a dictionary. Depending on your current reading level, you may want to start with books aimed at elementary or junior high school children.
For listening comprehension, listen to English news broadcasts and watch dramas on AFKN. Before watching news broadcasts, read the Korean newspapers first so that you are familiar with the news. With prior knowledge, you will be better able to catch words and expressions in the broadcast.
If you choose to watch a drama, pick series and watch it regularly. Familiarity with the plot and the characters will help you understand the dialogue and learn conversational expressions. Watching movies is usually effective only for those whose listening skills are already competent.
For speaking, the best way is to meet regularly with a native speaker. If that is not possible, an English conversation club is another option.
Memorizing expressions rarely yields excellent results, especially compared to the time required. But knowledge of basic grammar is essential. The book we recommended, Root TOEIC English, can provide that basic knowledge.
We do not recommendation early English education for children in Korea under the age of eight or nine. We feel that children must first have a strong command of their native language, Korean, before learning foreign languages. Children should be able to understand that they are learning a different language, so that when they speak Korean, they do not mix in English words, and when they speak English, they do not mix in Korean words. In addition, early English education may give children the impression that a foreign language such as English is more important than their own language. This can instill feelings of inferiority and hinder development of a healthy identity as a Korean.

첫번째는 청취 능력 강화에 관한 것입니다. 흔히 청취력을 강화하기 위해서 받아쓰기(dictation)를 많이 하면 좋다고 합니다. 그런데 막상 하려고 하니까 어떤 text를 가지고 해야 하는지 또 처음 관사부터 모두다 받아써야 하는지 등 어려운 점이 한 두가지가 아닙니다. 받아쓰기에 관한 구체적인 방법과 청취력을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법이 있으면 장단기로 나누어 가르쳐 주셨으면 합니다.

Last Wednesday I went to the Military Reserve Training for the first
time in my life which was the last time for most my friends.
Why? When I went the Army, most my friends finished their military
service and started the military reserve training. Also, last year my
training was delayed for my abroad trip. Therefore, I got the first
training when I am 27 years old. Can you imagine my feeling before the
training? Let me tell you from now.
The best describing word of my feeling was nervous and uneasy until
the beginning of the training. In the morning, I had to get up earlier
than usually because I had to get on the bus at eight o'clock in front
of Chu-An station. I took out my military uniform from closet and put it
on. The uniform looked and felt strange to me even though which was the
best clothe a couple of years ago. The uniform reminds of me the first
day in the Army. I am not sure what the feeling was on the first day?
However, I am sure it was not good and it's the worst time in my life.
Also, the memory tells me how I thank you my life whenever I complain
about something. My feeling was getting better after remembered that
memory.
The training was much easier than the training I attended as a rookie
in the Army. Therefore, I was able to finish the training without any
problems. When I came back home and took off my uniform, I thought of my
first day in the Army again, and thank you for everything and young man
who are working for our country.

The difference between "will" and "be going to" is not easy to pin down. The two expressions can be used interchangeably, except for certain instances. In general, "be going to" is used more frequently than "will," especially in conversation.
"Will" carries a stronger sense of deliberate intention, and is used to emphasize choice and voluntary action. Thus "I will close the door." is used when volunteering to close the door. "I'm going to close the door" simply means that in the future such action will be taken, but the action may or may not be voluntary.
Because "will" carries a sense of deliberate intention, it is also used when answering a request.

Other examples:

Chiapas Women for Liberation
Women wearing bandanas over their faces square off with soldiers throughout Chiapas. In 1994, the Zapatistas began their armed struggle. Since then, the fighting has caused more than 15,000 people to flee their homes. But women in villages throughout Chiapas are refusing to flee from the Mexican Army and are fighting back instead. The men, who are targeted by the Mexican Army, hide in the mountains or fight with the Zapatistas, and the women face the soldiers. In doing so, they also face real dangers. Some women have been killed or beaten by Mexican soldiers. Sometimes they go for days without eating, and they are in constant fear of being raped by the Mexican soldiers.
But the women say the difficulties are worth it. They say they enjoy chasing the soldiers away, and feel that they have finally taken control of their lives. Said one woman: "We used to have two governments, our men and the state. Now we are organizing to learn more about our rights, educate the men, and to be our own government."

Gender Persecution
A young woman's attempt to avoided a forced marriage ended in her tragic death. Semira Adamu sought the simple freedom to choose whether to marry and who her marriage partner would be. She escaped to Belgium, where she petitioned for asylum on the grounds that back home in Nigeria she faced severe oppression and would lose her human rights simply because she was a woman. Her family was forcing the 20-year-old woman to marry a 63-year-old man with three wives. Adamu argued that this amounted to gender persecution. She did not want to become the bride of a man old enough to be her grandfather and spend her life under three senior wives.
But the Belgian government refused her petition for asylum, saying that Adamu faced no threat of persecution. On September 22, 1998, immigration officials forced her onto a plane bound for Togo. While trying to strap her into her seat, the officials placed a pillow over her head and suffocated her. European activists for the rights of Black women cannot help but wonder if immigration officials would have behaved so harshly toward Adamu if she had been white or if she had been male. Feminists charge that her petition for asylum was denied because male-oriented immigration officials failed to recognize the legitimacy of gender persecution. Protests were held in front of Belgian embassies across Europe and Africa.

This is so necessary because, as you know, the forces that work to oppress people in different countries are either interlinked or the one and the same. We will do our best to help you. You are right that going overseas for a language program is a waste of time and money. We recommend the following steps to improve your English language ability.
1) Refresh your grammar. Root TOEIC English (뿌리토익영어, published by (주) 천재교육), designed for junior high school and high school students, provides a concise summary of contemporary English grammar. Try working on a chapter a week.
2) Read as much as you can. Focus on reading articles in newspapers and magazines, rather than books. (Books are so long that most people get frustrated before they finish.) Do not worry if you cannot understand everything. Read for general meaning. Do not look up every word that you do not understand. If the words are important ones, they will occur in other articles. Thus, as you encounter them again and again in different contexts, you will gradually absorb the meaning. After encountering the same word in several different articles, you may then look up the word to confirm your understanding of it. Don't spend more than a few hours on a single article.
Read in your areas of interest. Reading Time Magazine, although popular, is not necessarily a good way to improve your English. Given your interest in progressive activism, we recommend Z magazine, the Progressive magazine and Utne Reader. (While learning English, you might as well also learn about things that interest you.) They may be difficult to find in Korea, however. Try the English section at Kyobo Books or other large bookstores. If finances permit, you may want to subscribe to one or more of these magazines.
If you cannot find magazines with progressive articles, try the Internet. Enter www.yahoo.com or www.altavista.com and search under such subjects as feminism, environmentalism, etc. You are sure to find progressive magazines that publish on the Internet. For example, www.zmag.org is the website for Z magazine.
3) To improve your vocabulary, keep a small notebook of the words that you do look up. Review them while riding buses or the subway, or while waiting in lines. Do not spend any other time reviewing vocabulary!
4) The organization that publishes Z magazine also has Learning on Line University, where you can take courses throught the Internet. Information about their courses can be found at www.zmag.org. Courses given last spring included "Media Analysis: Challenging the Propaganda," "U.S. Capitalism in the Twentieth Century," "Radical Theory, Vision and Strategy," and "Introduction to Political Economy." Taking these courses would help you study English in a real English environment, as well as allow you to learn things that may be useful to you when working for the international solidarity of oppressed peoples.
5) To improve your listening, watch CNN or other English news broadcasts. Be sure to read the newspapers, both Korean and English, so that you are already informed of the news. Because the news will be familiar, you will be able to catch more words and understand more of the news broadcasts.
6) As you proceed on this program of English study, ask us questions. We will be happy to help you with everything from grammar to pronunciation.

Even if you're so busy that you don't know what day it is, you should still get in touch with your friends.
2) When interviewing with foreigners (Westerners or Americans) the most important thing is to be confident. Your body posture and your voice are important ways to communicate confidence. Greet the person with a firm handshake: look straight in his/her eyes, grip his/her hand firmly with your hand, shake up and down twice, and then let go. Do not use both hands and do not bow.
While talking together, look the person straight in the face. Nod your head ocassionally to indicate that you understand what he/she is saying, or that you agree with his/her opinion. Do not nod continuously, however, because that will only make you look silly. Be concise with your answers. Do not move around in your seat, but sit comfortably and confidently. Your voice should be strong and firm. If the interview is in a foreign language such as English, do not apologize for your English ability. This is not necessary. Use simple sentences and speak confidently.
If the interview is for a job, focus your talk on the different ways that your skills and experience will be useful to the company. Your answers to questions should show that you are familiar with the company. Near the end of the interview, or during appropriate moments during the interview, ask some questions about the job and about the company. These questions should not be basic ones, but should indicate that you have some knowledge about the company and simply want clarification or elaboration. Your answers should also show enthusiasm for the job and an interest in the challenges that the job provides.

Men in Cyberspace Are Just As Rude
Men in cyberspace behave much the same way as men in the real world. This is the conclusion of a recent study by Kimberly Dawn Blum on male and female students who took on-line courses. On-line courses -- a type of correspondence course where classes are held on-line and students can connect with each other in school-supported cyberspace forums such as email lists -- has been touted as an ideal way for women with jobs and families to gain college and advanced degrees. But Blum shows that in addition to technical barriers, women face the same dominating and controlling behavior from men in the cyberspace classroom as in the traditional classroom.
In the cyberspace forum that Blum studied, males posted messages more frequently, and their messages tended to be longer. Their posts also excluded women. They would engage in discussions with each other for long periods, often days. When female students posted messages, males would respond with various tactics to silence the women. These tactics included posting messages that were extraordinarily long; insulting the women, their concerns and their opinions; shouting in their posts by writing in capital letters; or posting sexual jokes. After a post of this sort, female students would stop posting, and it was usually days before they would again participate. This pattern was repeated over and over again.
Because women generally have less exposure to computers, much of the technology necessary to participate in cyberspace education is new to them. Most of the posts containing computer-related questions came from females. But males failed to support such requests for assistance. They either failed to respond, or their response was arrogant and implied that the questioner was dumb. Some were even insulting. When a female student noted that computer technology can be confusing, a male student told her to "stop whining." Most female requests for computer-related assistance were answered by other females. The women who were familiar with computers were willing to share their knowledge with others, and understood the beginner's confusion.
Blum concludes that technical barriers and the hostile atmosphere in cyberspace discourage women from full participation. This makes it less likely that women who take computer-mediated courses will go on to obtain their degrees. Blum suggests that schools implement programs for gender equity. These programs would include computer training, setting rules for proper etiquette in cyberspace forums, and monitoring of computer forums for offensive and sexual comments. Failure to prevent sexual comments, she notes, can leave schools vulnerable to legal action for allowing sexual harassment.

영한사전과 한영사전을 뒤져가며 적긴 적었는데 친구들이 아무리
봐도 콩글리쉬라고 합니다.
부탁합니다만 교정을 해 주실 수는 없는지요...내용은 아래와 같습니다.
In last summer vacation, I traveled Chejudo.
지난 여름 방학에 나는 제주도로 여행을 갔습니다.
When I saw Chejudo in the sky, it was so small that likely to be caught by my hand.
하늘에서 제주도를 보았을 땐 너무 작아서 손에 잡힐 것만 같았습니다.
A green field looked like mosaic and Mt. Halla that sunk under the clouds was very mysterious.
초록 밭들은 마치 모자이크를 한 것처럼 보였고 구름에 잠긴 한라산은 너무나 신비로웠습니다.
You know, Chejudo refer to samdado, because there are a lot of water, wind and women.
아시다시피, 제주도는 삼다도라 불립니다. 왜냐하면 물, 바람, 그리고 여자가 많기 때문이죠.
But in my opinion, being many women had little to do with a beauty.(It's a joke.)
하지만 제가 보기에는, 여자가 많은 것은 예쁜 것과는 거의 상관이 없더라구요.(농담)
Most of all, it was really marvelous thing that very cold water was pouring out of beach.
무엇보다도, 정말 신기했던 것은 해안가에서 아주 차가운 물이 쏟아난다는 거였죠.
That was why settlement of Chejudo had developed from beach.
그것은 제주도의 취락이 해안가에서 발달하게 된 원인이였죠.
If there is given me a chance latter, I'll want to travel with you at there.
나중에 기회가 주어진다면 여러분과 거기에 같이 가고 싶네요.

Last summer vacation, I traveled to Chejudo. When I saw Chejudo from the sky, it seemed small enough to be held in my hand. The green fields were a mosaic, and Mt. Halla, shrouded in clouds, seemed mysterious. Chejudo is also called Samdado, or the island where three things are plentiful. These three are water, wind, and women. But I found that while there may be many women, this had little to do with there being beautiful women. (This is a joke.) Most marvelous of all, there are springs of ice-cold freshwater at the seashore. This may be why the first human settlements on Chejudo were near the shore. I'd like to travel there with you someday, given the opportunity.

저는 영어 공부에 무척 관심은 많은데 막상 영어 공부를 하려고 하면 뭐부터 시작을 해야 할지 막막합니다.
영어회화학원을 다닐까? 그냥 단어 외우고 그냥 저냥 지낼까? 이런 저런 생각을 많이 합니다.
그런데 회화를 하려고 해도 문법과 어휘력이 부족해서 겁부터 나구요 정말 힘이 듭니다.
저의 영어 공부의 목적은 회화이거든요.
그런데 중학교때부터 기초를 튼튼히 다졌어야 했는데 그러지를 못했답니다.
부끄러운 얘기인데요 시험 볼 때 두요 공부 거의 안 하구요.
시험지를 보면 이것이 무슨 말이야가 일수구요.
특히나 문법 문제가 나오면 정말 다 찍었어요.
선생님 제가 자꾸 시험 이야기를 해서 학생인 줄 아실터인데요 그렇지 않거든요.
저는 이번 년도에 전문대를 졸업하고 지금은 회사에 다니고 있는데요
영어 공부를 해야겠다는 생각이 간절하게 듭니다.
선생님 문법 공부를 지치지 않고 재미있게 할 수 있는 방법을 알려주세요?
저 정말 문법에 대해서는 하나도 모르거든요.
그래서 abcd....서부터 시작하는 마음으로 하고싶은데요.
영어에 대해서 왕초보는 공부를 어떻게 하면 되는지 알려주십시오.
교재 선택 방법과 어휘력과 문법 공부를 적절하게 함께 할 수 있는 방법을 알려주십시오.

전에 배운 것은 모두 잊어버렸고 지금 아는 거라곤 English 밖에 없다고 생각하시고 함께 시작해 보는 건 어떠세요?
현 상황에서는 어휘, 문법, 회화, 듣기를 동시에 공부할 수 있는 좋은 기회입니다.
조금도 두려워 마세요.
오늘보다는 한 달 후를 바라보는 마음의 자세로 차분히 하나씩 배우가시면 됩니다.
우선 중학교 1학년 교과서(천재교육 출판사 발행)와 교과서 내용이 녹음된 듣기 카세트 테이프(천재교육 출판사 발행) 그리고 영한 사전을 준비하세요. 이때 주의하실 점은 절대 참고서나 자습서를 구입하는 일이 없어야 합니다.
김인숙님의 상황을 고려한다면 교과서, 카세트 테이프, 사전을 가지고 공부하는 게 가장 효과적인 방법입니다.
공부하는 방법은...
1) 하루에 1과씩 교과서를 보면서 테이프를 듣습니다. 무슨 내용/뜻인지 몰라도 괜찮습니다. 이렇게 1학년 교과서 전체를 한 번 끝냅니다. 좀 지루할 수도 있지만 몇일 만 참으면 책 1권이 끝난다라는 희망을 갖고 하시면 힘이 생길 겁니다.
방법 2)는 방법 1)의 진행 과정을 지켜보면서/방법 1)의 결과를 보면서 말씀 드린 게 좋을 것 같습니다.
방법 1) 진행 과정에서 궁금하신 것 있으시면 그때 그때 문의하세요.
그래야만 방법 1) 진행 중에라도 도움이 될 수 있는 다른 방법을 소개해 드릴 수 있습니다.
잊지 마시고 어떤 종류의 질문이든 좋으니 도움이 필요하시면 연락 주세요.
참고로 단어, 문법, 회화, 듣기는 서로 아주 밀접하게 연관되어 있으므로 분리해서 생각할 수 없습니다. 동시에 한꺼번에 공부할 수 있다는 뜻입니다.
예를 들어 듣기 공부하면서 단어, 문법, 회화 공부도 할 수 있다는 뜻입니다.
